"The whole idea of revenge and punishment is a childish day-dream. Properly speaking, there is no such thing as revenge. Revenge is an act which you want to commit when you are powerless and because you are powerless: as soon as the sense of impotence is removed, the desire evaporates also."
-George Orwell, Revenge is Sour (1945) I was discussing with a family member how excited I am that Obama is closing Gitmo. This family member didn't quite agree. Somewhat reluctantly saying that torture wasn't right...but...what were we supposed to do let a group just kill Americans? And I was thinking, when does it stop? How does killing make killing right? and is Torture ever right? What about taking the moral high ground? and this quote from George Orwell came my way and summed it up perfectly.
Energetically speaking, when you respond to negative energy with negative energy you just continue the negativity. Becoming neutral to it is the secret. Accepting the horrors we are capable of and choosing something different, that's where the power is.
